Dear Sister
I recived your letter which is ever Welcome if [torn] short it found us all wel [torn] bad colds there is four of [torn] the family I have Grac [torn] little girl she was t [torn] old the 21 of feb. they [torn] on a visit in Nov [torn] me she seems as happy [torn] she likes to stay with [torn] in the woods. she ne [torn] ward about going home [torn] went up to the state been gone 7 days when [torn] he asked her if she wa [torn] go up to papas is Granm [torn] he said no well Ill stay wi [torn] you can take Art he was [torn] the wagon going to schoo [torn] she said today when will my Uncle come home when it is warm enough she is with him when he is around.
I expect to go up in May to there memoral day 30 of May I am well enough to go - [torn] so ancious to get some [torn] made I sent to St Paul [torn] for seeds $1.75c worth [torn] e come I want to get [torn] the Ground my cabbage is [torn] have sowed Earley I [torn] plant my late ones out [torn] early tomatoes are comeing [torn] has 19 Hogs to feed so [torn] sow Cane to feed arly allso [torn] arn Art plowed one day [torn] e he went away. 17 shoats [torn] 2 sows this is a grand [torn] ce for hogs fall and winter [torn] there is so many Acorns [torn] r them to eat. they get most [torn] letter now I am sure we will have enough meat next winter if they do well we have 19 Hens I have two cows so we will have plenty of milk. we have not starved this winter nor froze yet we have plenty of wood it takes all my pension to live, but after this It wont take so much. George had bad luck. their house burnt down Ella was alone they lost every thing but what they had on thier backs. but the people were good Mr Denton a store keeper gave him a new suit gave Ella Mary and Sherman a suit then went around to all the buisness men and raised $44.00 in money someone gave him 1 Hundred weight of flour.
Ella felt so bad to think she lost her sewing machine he gets $36.00 dolars a month working on a farm house rent free I think he will do perty well this year. I dont know wether I told you that Lewis was married he got 80 acres of land when he was married. I dont know anything about the Brothers and sisters winter I thought you all had forgotten us. Charley and John are working out they use all the money they make. Dennis and Art runs the farm he is 13 years old Birthday 20 of Oct Charley will be 17 in April 23 John will be 15 in August the 30 D looks old but he has been sick so much this winter his lungs hurts him the climate agrees with me, I must close for this time I answered your last letter an sent a stamp but got mo answer is it hard times in Danville [”Willie Chapin” stamped on paper behind writing] it is here Love to all I hope to hear from you soon
Is Harris alive or Dead I had one letter since I come Home ask him what I have done to him that he dont write now Dear sister dont forget me again remember I am a lone sister in the southwest
