Dear Mother One and all,
I thought I would write to you all the week but I kept finding something to do so I was busy as my Husband and boys have started for the timber again this morning I would write to you for it does seem so lonesome here by my self but it has to be doen so I must not complain they will commence a new job today they get half the wood they cut and there board and dont have to cord it. So they think it a better chance make more they have been down there 6 weeks and done thier own cooking and camped out it has been hard on Richard he says he is glad he has got done cooking. They have to walk 13 miles this morning. Alferd has left his place as usal, so he is at home and

his father is puting him through he is so hard a boy as I ever saw he keeps his father in hot water all the time he keeps telling him he is going out west to take up land for himself, so Richard thinks he might just as well give up the farm for he cant do all alone. he is the age that he thinks he knows it all.
Well Mother Oscar and Wife and baby dot was here yesterday they are all well. there is more fun in Oscar than any of the boys dry fun he feels perty good they have got a new milch cow and expecting two more he says he will let us have one to milk if he dont trade her off. he is agoing today to buy another horse he will have three horses. I guess Mr Nelson will hire George for a year he likes George. he is well pleased with the wood choping wanted R to promise to chop for him next year.

How do you get along with the washer can you use it. Can you get me some sweet pepper seed for mangoes you know I did not get my seed for it was to early for them.
I have wished Hundred times you were here to stay with me I have stayed all alone several nights all alone Ella Perrigo will stay with me this week. Pearl Watring stayed awhile but she took a notion she did not want to stay any more So I did not care I could stay alone about three weeks more will let me out he will be at home fore he is a going to build a stone house for Mr Perrigo. and Mr P will Break prarie for him Oscar will Break some farms Tuesday night all alone with my cat do you get any letters from Hannah I wrote to her and sent her mine and Richards Picture and Georges I never recieved any answer. Richard likes Kate like a cat likes hot soak

he says he will never stay all night in her house again he will sleep in the strawstack first she treated him like a dog the last time him and George stayed George says she acted awfull She tried to set George against Richard but she has not succeeded yet. I have been there twice since I have been here I dont want to go unless I can go and come back the same day. Oh dear Mother if you were here tonight our house is very warm nothing froze this winter my plants are doing nicely we have had a very cold winter the coldest winter that they have had for 20 years people think the Grasshoppers will come to an end. We are haveing warm weather now I planted some acorns and coffee Beans today I will plant my Walnuts tomorrow the frost is out of the Ground people are plowing for Spring wheat the roads are beautifull no mud in Kansas still the Ground is wet.
I wish you were all out here then I would not want to see Ill again
