The following letters all written by Katie Chapin are undated, although it is generally possible to deduce a likely date range for each letter. These letters provide further demonstrations of the challenges and everyday realities of life on the Kansas frontier. They also offer additional insight into the Chapins' recruitment of Marcia and Richard Christy to join them in the Sunflower State and give more insight into the workings of the family support network which sent goods and commoditites from East to West.
