By 1882, it appears that Lucinda Chapin had finally agreed to visit her children in Kansas. The letter signed by Robert Christy–but perhaps jointly written with Marcia–from 1882 is focused on settling the logistics of her journey from Illinois to Kansas. The Christy’s have sent her the not inconsiderable sum of $20.00 with which to fund her travels, despite the fact that her coming does not yet seem to be definitively decided. This further speaks to the love engendered by Dorcas among her family and to the level of desire with which her family longed to be reunited with her.
