Dear Mother
Was very much pleased indeed to receive a letter from you once more. and to have such a faverable report of your health Marcia writes that you have a carpet on your floor. I think that makes a great difference in your taking cold. not having the floor damp so much of the time I do hope you will be real careful and not take cold. be sure and put some-thing on your head when you go out doors and have some rubbers to put on in damp weather. keep your feet dry You know it is almost always taking cold that makes you have those spells of Phthisis.
From what you wrote in your letter I came to the conclusion that Aunt Harriett was dead. I had never heard a word about it before. How long since She died? & what was the matter with her? She was not well when I was there the last time. How soon is Uncle Jerry going to California? He told me he had always wanted to go West. How sad it is to have his family all broken up. but that is the way in this world we know not what the hour or the day may bring forth
We are all enjoying good health this spring. a good many children have been sick in Village A new disease something like the whooping Cough but more distressing. My children do not go away from home very often so they have never had nay of the contagious disases Thos’ had a letter from Salmon last wee ksaying that Augusta and the children had the measles. and Augsta & Gracie were very sick We feel anxious to hear form them again.
Does Aunt Hannah still live where she did when we came away & is Louise teaching or going to teach next summer I often think of them and think I will write to them but do not get at it Tell Aunt H. I think I can beat her making pants I reconed up the other day how much we had made this winter. We have made 229 pairs of pants and they come to $58.49cts if we could have had pants all the time we could have made considerable more We can make two pair a day and do our work. but we have to work & get up early in the morning Most all the pants are 22 cts per pair once in a while we will have a few pr that are 25 cts if we could get a decent price for the pants we could make something I think we have done prety well consid-ering. we have considerable company and a good deal of house work to do. and a baby to take care of Our Baby is not very smart to talk although she can say a good many words. (But she walked before she was 11 months old) When she wants to know where anyone is she will say “Where is that Papa?” or “Where is that Mama” Where is that Doctor & when she finds them, will say “there he is” “o door” for open door, and can say a good many other words. We think she is awful smart She is siting in the Rocking chair now looking at the pictures in a book. When any of the neighbors come in she will step up to them and offer her hand to shake hands. Thos thinks she cant be beat
We are having rather a cold spring grass has not started yet & there is still a good deal of snow to be seen
Now Mother do not wait so long again before answering my letter. Maggie & Harris are still oweing me a letter You wrote the boys were going to be at home this summer but did not say what they were intending to do
I will wait a week before answering Marcias letter.
Remember me to all inquiring Friends
Yours ever
