Champaign Country, Ill., March 19th 1864
The undersigned having examined Miss H. E. Chapin in Orthography, Reading in English, Penmanship, Arithmetic, English Grammar, Modern Georgraphy, and the History of the United States; and being satisfied that She is of good moral character, hereby certify that her qualifications in all the above branches are such as to entitle her to this certificate, being of the third Grade, and valid in Champaign Co for six Months from the date hereof; renewable at the option of the school commissioner by his endorsement thereon.
