My own Dear Mother
Your good long letter was received a week ago tomorrow and thought I should have answered ere this but have to keep prety busy at my sewing and that tires me so that I do not feel much like writing Matilda is going to the Villiage this afternoon so thought I would write a few words we dont have a chance to send to the Office but about once a week Thomas is so busy when it dont rain trying to get something planted he is harrowing in oats today have not got the wheat planted yet a few early potatoes are is all they have planted I dont know as they will raise anything on the farm this year the weather is warm enough but it rain about evry other day and sometimes every day The trees are beginning to look quite green but the apple trees are not in blossom yet It seems odd to you to think of planting oats the last of May but they say the season is unusualy late Unless there happens to be a very late fall the poor people will suffer for something to eat
I have seen (or rather heard) of more poor people that have to be supported by the town since I came here than I ever heard of in all my life there is two families that live near here that have to be nearly clothed by their neighbors
It seems strange to think of Oscars being married I do hope they will live happy together I dont see any reason why they should not if they both do their part
You will love Katie I know there is much that is good about her but I do not think she will take my place I want that kept warm for me for I am comeing back again some day the Good Lord willing
Thomas has not forgotin you he is always glad when a letter comes says he is a going to write some day but he has to work so hard he feel so tired when he gets time to sit down there was no fall work done and he has had a double portion of work to do He has had a hard time with his face this week thinks he is cutting his wisdom tooth he could not eat any thing but mush until today
I received a letter from Aunt H last Sat. went up to the Villiage myself with Matilda in the bugy it was the first time I have been there since I came through on my way here Tho. has bought a buggy and a colt two years old
I shall have to close M is waiting Love to all I will write the particulars about what I have been making in my next letter am as well as could be expected yours ever
Hannah
Hope to get a letter from Marcia today
