Cincinnati Sept 18th 1864
Dear Cousin Dorcas
I suppose you are somewhat anxious to hear from me got home we arrived home Saturday noon we got to [illegible] at six o clock that evening and had to stay untill one in the night waiting for the train however we got a long first rute only felt very tired found our folks all well and glad to see us Mother asked us a great many questions about you all Harriet and Jerry staid with us untill Thursday they started for home I should have written you sooner but I had to run around with Hat while she staid we all went to the Opera the other night we wished that some of you were with us to enjoy it with us I feel verry lonely since Hat went home I wanted her to stay longer but she had to get home with her baby we went up and got her Babes and my Babes picture on one card I will send you one and my Lizzie, as soon as I get the rest taken I will send them you must get yours taken and send to us tell Hannah she must be sure and come out and stay a while with us and see something more of the world before she gits married tell Mr Chapin we will send the seed this week and a letter so that you will know when to look for it Charly says he would like to get acquainted with you verry much we will not soon forget our visit with you I enjoyed it verry much hop it will not be long before we can repay you for your kindnes by waiting upon you nothing would give me greater pleasure than to wait upon my friend, the Democrat had a Meldon torch light procession last night there was a large turn out they Draft here tomorrow Ive heard from the boys yesterday [illegible] was in all the last fighting Johnson is in the rear laid up with sore eyes he will soon to home now the fall of Atalanta has [illegible] dry goods to fall there will be a General enugh among some of our Merchants this fall
well I cant think of any thing more that would intrest you I want to write to Hannah Give my love to the girls tell them to write to me also to the boys tell I shall not soon forget them they were so kind to us the children send their love to them tell them little Mary has not been well since I got home she is getting more teeth kiss little Maggie for me now write once in a while and let us know how you prosper with much love I remain your affectionate
