Cincinnati Oct 16 1864
Dear Cousins
I recieved your letter in due time and was glad to hear from you I intended to have written before about the seed but I have had such weak eyes I could not see to write Mr Truesdale went to get the seed and they told him there was not a bit of hedge seed in the City and when they had it sold it for four dollars [illegible] he tried at all the stores
I have been verry busy since I came home we have been printing and papering our house anew and have just got through and it looks verry nice I wish you could come and see us this winter our city has been all axcitement of late on the account of the election the union came up victorius at the state Election and will at the Presidential the Copperheads hung their heads since they havent a word to say they held a Union mass meeting at Carthage six miles from the city two weeks ago that [heat?] evry thing ever got up in Hamilton Co the Procession was over five miles long
Mr Peppels was down two weeks ago and bought Groceries he is a going to start a Grocery with his bakery Harriet has been verry sick since she went home and the baby does not improve verry fast we are haveing beautiful weather now the fall with us is the pleasantest time of the year the Summer is so hot there is evry thing going on now so that any one can go if they are so disposed I go verry little I am a great hand to stay at home it keeps me busy to take care of my little family I have just been fixing Katie to attend Professor Grusers Gimnasium school they meet evry Saturday after noon to practice his schollars ar all dressed in uniform red waiste and pants and green short skirt the pants button fast below the knee they look verry pretty he gives exibitions evry winter
little Mary is here [illegible] me to take her and I must hurry she is getting better but is verry fretful the rest of the children I will send you all of the childrens pictures as soon and Charly and mine but I want some in return remember how is your Mother I often can immagine I can see her a [wheezing arround?] I think so much of her she was so kind to us while and all of you I hope we will have chance to repay it Ma sends her love to you all sasy she would like to see you verry much I wrote to Hannah and will send it with this you must write often and I will try to be punctual in answering remember me in kindness to all the family tell your Mother I made some splendid Jelly out of those crabapples I shall not forget that trip verry soon I want to mail this to night so I will close with much love I remain your Cousin Helen M Truesdale
