Dear mother Brother and sisters
I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope you are the same it is raining this morning so I thot that I would write to you it is the first time I have lost sence I came hear I get $1.75 cts per day have worked seven days comenced Tuesday after I came up hear I am Boarding at Mr Kirbys pay $3.00 per week for board they liked to shucked me to peaces when I came first Mr Kirby then Mrs K then the girls then Elies and John they all took a round at me when they got dun I was about gon they were so glad to see me Mrs K had to come and meat me she sayed she was so glad to see her son come home she does not like it hear Elies says he would jest as soon be in jail as hear I like it hear firstrate it is as nice little town in a nice location - is a little larger than Philo has a good meney places of bisness some 50 stores in the place I can git a job of corn gethern hear I can get 900 achers to gether this fall corn looks well hear and along the road between hear and Danville I will be down a week from next Saterday the girls sayed why dident you fetch Maggie with you I would like to see her how is Lizzie has she got well Flora sasy tell Maggie to send her your picture
