Wang Ching-Chun (王景春) arrived in the U.S. as an interpreter for the World’ Fair Chinese Pavilion. He studied and graduated from Yale University.

In 1908, Wang Ching-Chun (王景春) was hired by UIUC to teach “Asian History and Commerce”

Assisted by a scholarship offered by the Chinese Minister to the U.S., Wang became the first Chinese instructor in American higher education.

Upon graduation, Dr. Wang Ching-Chun (王景春) received a grant from the Chinese Minister in the U.S. to study European railway systems before returning to China

Dr. Wang Ching-Chun was touring Germany’s system when he learned of the 1911 Revolution in China. He quickly returned via the Siberia Railway and joined the Nanjing Government.

After returning to China in 1911, Dr. Wang restructured the Chinese railways (originally constructed by several Western powers) into a single system and participated in negotiations of railway loans, including the return of the British Boxer Indemnity. Indemnity funds were used to finance the Jin-Han Railway
