Dr. Huang Wanli's Family

Huang Wanli (黄万里 1911-2001), recieved a Ph.D. in Engineering Institute in 1937 at UIUC.

Dr. Wanli Huang was one of China's preeminent water resource engineers and an outspoken opponent of China's Three Gorges dam project.

He held various positions including: chief advisor in water engineering technologies at the State Commission of Economic Affairs, Chief of the Bureau of Water Resources of Gansu province, and Chief Advisor to the Northeast China General Bureau of Water Resources.

From 1953 until his death (at the age of 90), he taught at Tsing-hua University's Department of Water Conservancy.
